Cologne is probably the most beautiful city on the Rhein. It is a metropolis and at the same time a place where history comes to life. It is ideal for shopping in boutiques and large department stores as well as for sightseeing and cultural trips. In short: Cologne is an ideal city for a short trip. City trips to Cologne are offered everywhere. The city also has the advantage of being very easy to reach by train from all places in Germany, thanks to very good train connections.

Anyone who travels to Cologne will first see the city's greatest landmark: Cologne Cathedral. Located right next to the train station, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most impressive medieval buildings from the outside. Inside there is also a very special treasure: the shrine with the bones of the "Three Wise Men". The Rhein is also one of Cologne's major attractions. The view of the wide river alone is magnificent. And a trip on one of the Rhein ships is highly recommended. On a city trip around Christmas time, vacationers can even experience a Christmas market on the ship.

In the city center of Cologne, which has a population of around 1 million, there is one sight after another. The church "Groß St. Martin" from the 12th century, which was built on a Roman bath, St. Gereon with the third largest dome building in the world and St. Ursula with the bones of Saint Ursula are particularly recommended. After all the sights, a tourist in Cologne should not miss the brewery or one of the traditional restaurants. There you can find the famous Kölsch and other local delicacies such as Halven Hahn. On a city trip to Cologne, visitors can definitely see a lot in a relatively short time and have a great time.
